Conversation Analysis

Qualifications, membership of professional bodies and ethos

I have a psychology honours degree with The Open University. Im a member of The British Psychological Society. Im also a graduate of the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (based in Nelson, Lancs.). I am a member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists (MNRHP). Im in the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners.

I work under the premise that it is of paramount importance to listen to what the client says. In other words, the therapy is client-led and the goals are constantly re-assessed and progress monitored. The most important factor leading to a successful therapeutic outcome is the rapport developed between the client and the therapist.

I have regular supervision and am continually updating my skills through continuing professional development (CPD). I am currently working towards UKCP membership (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). Im studying Conversation Analysis (CA) with Dr Jean Pain (my mother). I hope to begin my doctoral thesis (based upon CA) within the next twelve months.
